It's done
Cancer free, remission, whatever you want to call it. I am free of the dragon. I have no idea what this was going to feel like, I am just blown away right now, no words can convey or expression can make it seem real. It's like wonderland with so many unanswerable questions and so many thanks to give out, I think I need to lay down for a while. I think it is called shock.

When I look you all in the eyes know that I believe in, thank and appreciate all of you and when this is all said and done, we'll go for a ride on snow, a bike, a wave, in the air or in the car...

The storm photo was taken while recovering from the transplant. Shannon and I had visited the day before and had talked about he was trying to get just that one shot. The title of his email "WOW, I Got So Damn Lucky" His persistence for this photo are indicative of everything he did.

MTB play day

1h 46m 35s
13.00 miles
7.32 miles/hr
Got out of work early today, so I decided to do some MTB training up Deer Creek. Other than breaking my brand new chain, I had a really good ride.

I was finally cleaning a super steep section when the chain broke, so I rode back down to the car, got a chain tool, fixed the problem, and went back up. Other than the rockwall, I can finally send the entire climb up to the junction.

I got up to the top and decided to do Red Mesa Loopx2 in each direction. I wanted to go and do an easy pace, w/out putting a lot of stress on the system or legs. Good times...of course I went hard a "few" times.

Descent max around 26.7mph

Race Report

ACtually I rode for more like 10 including warmups, but the above reflects the STXC race. Quick synopsis: The XC race started well. I was in the top 6 position, and we had shelld the race in half from the start well before we started the climb. Pass 2 guys that were walking the steep ascent and then...pffffft. The bang heard around the world. A rock or something reached up and grabbed my tire and put a 1/2 inch gash into the sidewall. I tried to reinflate, but with a tear(not puncture) like that, my race was done faster than it started.

I drove down to Salida and bought a new tire, and drove back to the course for the STXC.

The experts and Sports went off at the same time. It was blistering for the start. I got shelld pretty hard by the top 3 riders in the field, and managed to finish 2nd about 5 minutes behind the next "Sport" rider. Did I mention that he finished behind the Expert that took first. That dude is too fast for me.

Not a bad day of racing. Not great, but not bad. Only my 2nd DNF, but I'll take the paper hardware from the STXC.

Only bad thing about the courses, were the 3 inch 250 yd sand traps. Nothing like going 18mph, only to crawl at 5 and hoping to keep the bike upright. I don't know if it's been that bad the last 2 years, but this yer was really deep. Guess I'll have to figure something out for next year.
